Ahli striker Dominique da Silva says his army salute was given to the Red Devils' fans and not to head coach Manuel Jose as initially thought.

The salute was part of the Mauritanian ace's celebration of his goal in the Cairo giants' 2-1 win over Wadi Degla on Monday.

"I saluted the fans for their full support for me lately," Dominique told FilGoal.com. "I appreciate Jose and respect him a lot, he's like a father to me.

"I was keen to shake his hand upon scoring my first goal in the Egyptian Premier League, but the salute was given to the fans."

Meanwhile, Ahli have confirmed that Dominique should be fit to play against Military Production on Friday after picking up a calf injury in the Degla win.
