Ahli have set the record straight about their intention in signing Borussia Dortmund and Egypt forward Mohamed Zidan this summer.

“Zidan wants to join Ahli and we want him here. So we’re hoping to have a deal as soon as possible,” Ahli football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz told FilGoal.com.

“He said he could return to Egypt after next season because he wants to play in the Champions League, but we need him before that, so we’ll try to make that happen.”

Zidan, who voiced his admiration for Ahli on many occasions, admitted being frustrated by lack of first-team football despite this term’s Bundesliga triumph with Dortmund.

The 29-year-old has hardly played a part in Juergen Klopp’s side extraordinary campaign as he implied that he might be considering his options next season.

Zidan’s contract with Dortmund expires in June 2012.
