A host of the Egyptian Premier League referees are set to meet to discuss the strike they consider going on.

A referee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said his peers will soon decide whether or not to go on a strike.

The referees' attitude came in the wake of Zamalek's attack on Yasser Mahmoud, who officiated their 1-0 loss to MCDR.

During the league match, Mahmoud made some poor decisions that somehow contributed to the Cairo giants' defeat, which caused him to face a baptism of fire.

After Zamalek had filed a complaint against him, Mahmoud announced his retirement as a referee.

Egyptian referees have been frequently criticized over the past few years.
