Ahli will definitely be without Mohamed Abou-Treika in this month’s Cairo derby against Zamalek due to a calf problem.

The 32-year-old aggravated the injury in a friendly match at Kuwait’s Salmiya and was initially ruled out for three weeks by football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz.

However, Ahli doctor Walid Abdul-Baqi confirmed that further tests suggest it would be impossible for the midfield talisman to be available for the June 29 clash.

“He had a calf strain and then he suffered a second-degree tear in the calf muscle. He now needs a month of therapy,” Abdul-Baqi told FilGoal.com.

Shawky injury

Midfielder Mohamed Shawky is also in the treatment room in the meantime, but the Egypt international still have a chance to be fit for the Zamalek encounter.

“He is working extensively to be fit in at most three weeks,” added Abdul-Baqi.

Shawky sustained a knee injury during Ahli’s 1-0 win over Ittihad last month and was kept on the pitch for nearly 25 minutes after the setback.
