Mohamed Zidan says he has been approached by a number of Gulf clubs including Saudi champions Hilal, stressing that he will only play for Ahli if he decided to move to Egypt.

Zidan’s future with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund is up in the air, having lost his place in Juergen Klopp’s selection.

The Egypt forward has been in talks with Ahli recently, while keeping his options open for another move from Signal Iduna.

“I’ve got three offers from the Gulf, one of which is from Hilal,” Zidan told his personal website.

“A move to the Gulf would be fine for me, especially with a club competing for domestic and continental titles.

“I could stay with Dortmund though if I felt I had a role to play with the team next season.”

Ahli talks

“Ahli approached me through (marketing director) Adli Al-Qaeyi,” the 29-year-old added.

“I expressed to him how much I admire Ahli and I made it clear that if I decided to move to the Egyptian league, I will only wear the red shirt.”

Ahli football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz revealed this week that the Reds are hoping to sign Zidan as soon as possible in order to have him available for the Champions League.
