Egyptian referees could be provocative but their integrity is not questionable, according to Mohamed Barakat.

Under huge criticism recently, Egyptian referees are threatening to strike after unless they were protected by the FA.

"Many of them are provocative, but all of them are honest men. I have no doubt over this," Barakat told Modern Kora.

Referee Mohamed Abdul-Kader was attacked by Ahli officials after giving a penalty to Military Production during their clash in the 88th minute.

Seconds later, he waved the play on in what could have been a spot-kick in the other direction.

"Their penalty was correct and (Ahli defender) Ahmed Al-Sayed should have been dismissed as well," the veteran midfielder added.

"Osama Hosni had a penalty disallowed later. Still, I can't say these mistakes were intended."
