Promising midfielder Shehab Ahmed has penned a new four-year contract with Ahli to end speculation about his future, the league champions said.

“Negotiations went smoothly during the meeting with Shehab as the interest is mutual. He signed without any problems,” Ahli marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi told the club’s website.

Shehab expressed his frustration at the lack of first-team football by the end of last season as he only made one appearance under Manuel Jose.

He implied that he could be leaving the club in search for regular football next season, before Jose decided he wants him to stay on.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the pillars of the Egypt Olympic team currently competing for a place in the 2012 summer games in London.
