Samir Zaher has insisted that the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) will not backtrack on their decision to block any club from participating in two external competitions next season.

Last season's Egyptian League was hampered by many postponements which affected the overall outcome of the teams' performance.

EFA officials, led by Zaher, insisted on more than one occasion that these delays were down to the clubs' too many external commitments.

Last season, Zamalek and Ismaili took part in the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup respectively as well as the Arab Champions League in addition to their campaign in the local league and cup.

According to the EFA, this has only served to negatively influence the Egyptian League so they decided that no team will participate in two external competitions last season.

However, reports said the EFA officials will reserve their decision like what they did in past seasons.

"We will not make the same mistake again. Last season was a disastrous one and witnessed too many faults," Zaher told Dream TV on Friday.

"Preventing teams from taking part in more than one external competition is a step in our plan to reorganize the Egyptian League.

"What happened last season was exceptional. We do not want to repeat it again," Zaher concluded.
